TJ Orton has lived on or near a river his entire life.  As a young boy, his grandpa sparked his love for fishing by taking him out camping and teaching him to cast off the local riverbanks.  In high school, TJ was heavily involved with field sports until he discovered his ultimate hobby: fly fishing.  At this point, the rest was history and his passion for exploring on rivers out beat any day spent on a field somewhere in city bounds.

The feeling that TJ felt when he was out fishing made him realize that he wanted to share this with other young men.  In 2012, his mentoring program “Hooked on Life” came to fruition.  He began taking young men out fishing to give them a loving, safe outlet from day-to- day challenges at home or in school.  As time has gone on, he recently landed his trophy fish with his fiancé, Sha, and his now sweet little girl, Summer.  He spends his time teaching his girls to cast, rowing them into the honey-holes, and teaching his mini fly-fishing girl to tie flies that will surely catch “the big boys”.  Whether capturing photos of God’s creation outdoors or enjoying coffee next to the river, TJ finds great pleasure in appreciating the small things in life.  He is grateful to have fly fishing to share with his family and boy does taking alone time on the river or hangin’ with his fishing dudes feel that much more rewarding after the daily work grind.  His advice? Stay hooked on life, friends!

"Find others that inspire and push you to grow. Hang with these people. Iron sharpens Iron."
