I had 4 opportunities to use it this weekend. In those 4 opportunities, my flies got snagged in the sleeve on 3 occasions but that wasn't all. On one occasion, somehow my tippet got snagged and ended up breaking off both flies in my rig...wasn't like I was unsheathing a scabbard like they do in the movies. Also, several of the plastic strands are broken and stick out. Since I got a hook point in my finger on one of the first times using this thing, I was gun shy every time I touched the broken strands because I thought it was another hook! I don't know if mine is defective or what but obviously my experience has been quite different from the vast majority of other users. I'd be willing to work through this with Customer Service to find a resolution because Loon stuff is and has always been great!

I just purchased this rod sleeve and I will say I am more than happy with my decision. I am able to keep my rod rigged up and the fly won’t catch on the material plus it is amazing at protecting the rod in transportation plus the material doesn’t seem like it will break down or stretch in time. I will definitely be buying them for all my outfits for my business.

I chase stripers all summer in Casco Bay Maine.

I normally fully rig up a 9wt and 10wt at home before making the 10 minute drive to the marina. When I get to the boat, I want to get away from the dock as quick as possible. The last thing I want to do is rig a rod in the early morning bug infested darkness at 0400.

My rigged rods, broken down into 2 pieces, currently ride in a hard sided double rod on reel tube in the back of the truck for the ride to and from the marina. The hard sided reel case provides ultimate protection, but it's heavy, takes up a lot of space, and the metal components in the zippers don't enjoy the marine salt air. Also, double, hard sided, 2 piece rod on reel tubes are expensive, if you can even find them.

The Quickdraw Sleeve, combined with the Quickdraw Reel Case, seems like an elegant, functional and less costly solution to transporting rigged rods when the protection of a hard sided tube is not necessary. I have one sleeve and reel case now, and will get two more before the summer fishing season.

Works well on my rods for
9’ to 10’. One additional feature would be having a shock cord attached to seat around the reel. I have a different one that has this and it makes it ready getting it out of a rod vault. I added some backing and just wrap around the reel. It makes it easier to ensure it doesn’t get stuck in the vault.
