An ergonomic and high-performing update to the indispensable tying tool. The powder coated ergonomic handle rests perfectly between the thumb and fingers, while the spring steel spool holder allows for easy adjustment in tension by changing the pressure applied by grip. The tube is designed with versatility in mind: the high gauge works well when tying small flies, and the tube is long enough to tackle large patterns as well.
Load thread and make magic at the vise.
At first I thought the tool was a little long but after adjusting the tension and tying a few flies realized how comfortable using this bobbin was. I highly recommend this product
The needle part of the bobbin is too long for the tool I use to feed the thread
After trying out several different brands/models, I ordered up a Loon Ergo Bobbin. I wasn't totally dissatisfied with a few of the others, but I was intrigued by the Loon design. It turns out I use the Loon exclusively now, after finding out that while it looks and feels substantial, it's also capable of delicate work as well. Comfort and reliability will keep several of these on my bench from here on out.
I was really skeptical when I first saw this bobbin. It looked a bit cheap and unrefined in the pictures. Boy was I wrong! The large tube makes it easy to thread and I've never had any fraying or damage to my tying thread. The ergonomic handle is super comfortable and is easy to grip and keeps you fingers from getting fatigued. My only complaint is that the "wings" that hold the spool are a bit sharp, so if your thread gets wrapped around one it may get cut. Other then that small detail, these are great.
I gone through dozens and dozens of bodkins and this will be my last one forever. perfect weight and grip. Loon did a amazing job designing this. PERFECT PRODUCT!
