MOODAH POODAH & DURACELL JIG
Charlie Craven (the renowned tyer from Colorado) once called his rule to fish only flies that he personally tied to be “often broken”. Certainly most tyers can identify with Charlie’s desire to use only his own flies…. and his willingness to compromise when flies from another box are working!
Tying is kind of the same. Every tyer wants to come up with something entirely unique, or at least put their own spin on another pattern. But sometimes, it’s best just to do it the way someone else did it, especially if that someone else is Cheech and Curtis at Fly Fish Food. This week Matt is borrowing a couple patterns from these fine gentlemen. If you’re not familiar with their work, head on over to flyfishfood.com now (seriously, right now).
Both patterns are super-versatile, and can cover a ton of ground in terms of the bugs they imitate and the fish they fool.
