The spring constantly comes apart and usually right when you need to remove the hook from an angry fish. I thought I would like these at first as I like the size and they feel like they are built with quality components but the spring design comes up short.

I've gone from hemos to mitten clamps in the past year. I've owned 5 different brands of mitten clamps and finally bought a pair of Loons.

These hold clamp lock well (not all brands do), has a nice non-slip grip (not all brands do), have a narrower point for using the clamps to twist surgeon's knots (not all brands do), and when mine broke, Loon warrantied the product within 24 hours (not all clamps do, some don't even publish how to file a warranty claim.)

I'm a fan of Loon. They're clearly a company that makes products designed by anglers, for use by anglers.

I have a few pairs of mitten clamps, and these are by far my favorite. They're a bit heavier duty than the typical ones you find, and the grip is second to none. Smooth action, and great grip. Plus, when I inevitably drop these in the river, that yellow grip is going to be easy to spot.

Grips well. I prefer the plier style grip over the thumb hole style.
I like the auto lock and release clasp.

Engineered well as to size, workmanship, and function. Padded grips good addition.
