Lochsa is a premium all-around gel floatant that even works on CDC. It won’t mat dry flies made with CDC and is perfect for treating any type of feathers, hair, hackle, or yarn. Lochsa will provide maximum floatation without the slightest hindrance on appearance. It is silicone based, and won’t melt in the heat or harden when it’s cold.
Prior to first cast, apply desired amount of Lochsa to fly. Use fingers to work Lochsa into hair and hackle. If fly becomes water logged, use powder desiccant to dry, then reapply.
This is a really really good product. Works great on all types of dry flies, a small amount does the trick, and this stuff is a bit expensive. Works awesome on CDC, none of the gel type floatants compares to this product when it comes to CDC dries. Ive tried dry shake, gink types, fly agra, CDC oil, Lochsa is my all around favorite since unlike the others, it works great on everything. Will go through about 5 of these next summer guiding on the Colorado and Fraser Rivers.
The number one quality I love about loon is no matter the product, all are engineered for the greater good of the user and environment. The lochsa floatant is great, holds dries well, and so far hasn’t overheated in my bag or all over my lanyard. That’s the most important thing and loon is amazing. Get it.
