I really like these pliers. They're quite a bit smaller than I thought...no matter. I tried out the holster, and immediately put the holster away. I attached the pliers to a 'zinger' and was storing them in the front pocket on my waders.

I don't have the greatest of hands, and I've never been able to have a spiltshot 'stick' to my tippet until using these pliers. The weird bendy links actually make a difference.

Only one other minor adjustment into the pliers I would recommend, give the ring attached to the handle a good two size bump down, even trying to adapt to these great pliers, the giant ring connecting the handle to the retaining cord is a bit large. I found myself grabbing more of the ring than the handle of the pliers.

Overall, it's a great set of pliers. The holster, not so much. Hopefully it doesn't change much in the mechanism, just the utility needs a bit of work.

1 star might be a bit harsh but these pliers have a couple of problems that are a no go for me. First off, and this is the big one, the design of the holster does not keep the jaws closed which will catch your fly line right on the cutting edge. Secondly, if you push the pliers into the holster too far they take a tremendous amount of force to remove. Finally, they do not cut braid which the Apex pliers and the regular hemo's do with ease.

Perhaps your results may vary, and if you are just keeping them in the boat within a hands reach probably not a problem but for a wade fisherman who is looking to keep these on the belt, I would suggest finding a way to tuck these away in a more secure area. But be warned that they also cannot be held in the holster upside down, there are only little detents that are not a positive grab.

When I received my trout pliers the jaws were poorly machined and should never have left the manufacturer . Additionally, before orders are shipped all items should be quality inspected. That way customers get only the highest quality and don't have to return these items costing them time and money.

Haven't really used them yet since the ice is still on but I noticed one thing right away, the jaws are not corrugated!! Forceps have corrugated jaws, why not pliers? Other than that they are of good quality and work as expected but would be so much better with teeth!!!

I'm a guide in Northwest Montana, and I'm always sitting my forceps down around the boat. I love that this is holstered and tethered. Chances are I'll still find a way to lose it, but its great for now.
