The sounds we find on the water—the near silence of a still lake or the rushing water of a mountain stream—fills anglers with a calm and peace, or even excitement. For many of us music is the same. No, we won’t advocate putting on your headphones while fishing (EVER). But we will acknowledge that the music that pumps you up, cools you down, or just lets you zone while you drive, is an important part of the day.

Music is often the sound that defines the moment, and the music that we choose is unique and personal. We can have heated debates with friends about various bands, guitar players, or genre defining albums, that are just as passionate as whether Great Lake “steelhead” are really steelhead, or if fishing beads is really fly fishing. Music and fly fishing go together like peas and carrots, and most anglers we have encountered are as passionate about music as they are about fly fishing.

Sharing fly patterns with our buddies is a lot like sharing new bands we listen to. In honor of the similarity and our love for music here at Loon Outdoors we thought we would share a few of our favorites with you.
