Earth Day on the Water: Loon Outdoors Celebrates Fish For Garbage

Every Earth Day, we take a moment to reflect on the places that matter most—the ones that inspire us, challenge us, and fill us with gratitude. For us at Loon Outdoors, that place is the river.
This Earth Day, we’re proud to shine a spotlight on a group of people who are doing more than reflecting—they’re acting. Fish For Garbage is a community-powered nonprofit cleaning up rivers, educating the public, and empowering anglers to become stewards of their home waters.

Giving Back to the Rivers That Give So Much
Fish For Garbage hosts cleanups across the West, inviting anglers, families, and river lovers of all kinds to come together for something simple but profound: picking up trash. Since its start, the organization has removed over 100,000 pounds of garbage from rivers—transforming polluted banks into thriving ecosystems and forgotten stretches of water into places of pride.
It’s a reminder that conservation doesn’t always mean grand gestures. Sometimes it looks like muddy boots, garbage bags, and good people doing good work.

Earth Day Is Every Day on the River
At Loon, our commitment to the planet runs through everything we do—from eco-friendly packaging to biodegradable products. But Earth Day reminds us that protecting wild places isn’t just a brand value—it’s a personal responsibility. Fish For Garbage lives this every day.
Their mission resonates deeply with us because it aligns with one of our core beliefs: the health of our waterways depends on us. As anglers, we’re in a unique position to make a difference—not just by how we fish, but by how we show up for the rivers we love.
