In this tutorial, we’ll be going back in time to tie a traditional steelhead fly that is best used when fishing estuaries for winter steelhead and swinging in low and clear conditions.

It is tied on a competition-style hook, but this is a much buggier nymph than you’re used to seeing in tight-line rigs. What we love about this pattern is that it only uses a few materials, and can fill a box faster than you can say “extended body pupating caddis”.
