In this tutorial, we’ll be going back in time to tie a traditional steelhead fly that is best used when fishing estuaries for winter steelhead and swinging in low and clear conditions.

Big flies don’t have to be hard to cast. This winter steelhead pattern uses a technique to remove the rabbit hide from crosscut rabbit strips to give this fly a nice profile and plenty of movement, without being too heavy to cast all day!
