DEPTH CHARGE CRAWFISH
DESCRIPTION
In this fly tying tutorial, Hogan Brown from Loon Outdoors shows how to tie the Depth Charge Crawfish - a heavy micro crayfish pattern designed to get down quickly and stay near the bottom where fish feed.
This fly uses a combination of Cohen’s Carp Dub, marabou claws, rubber legs, and a foam carapace from Blane Chocklett’s Craw Claws material to create a buggy, lifelike crustacean profile. The added weight and jig-style build make it perfect for Euro nymphing, float and fly setups, or dredging deep runs and pools.
One of the best things about this pattern is its simplicity and durability. While ultra-realistic crawfish patterns can take a long time to tie, the Depth Charge Crawfish gives you the same buggy movement and profile in a fly that won’t break your heart if you lose it on the bottom.
